What is the Balkan Flexi Pass?

The Balkan Flexi pass allows you to travel for either consecutive or non-consecutive days. It can be any 3, 5, 7, 10, or 15 days of travel within a period of 2 months. You can take multiple train journeys per travel day (midnight – midnight). When booking the Balkan Flexi Pass you can choose whether you want to travel in 1st or 2nd class.

Who can use the Balkan Flexi Pass?

The Balkan Flexi Pass can be used by all persons, except residents of the following countries: Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, and Turkey.

How does it work?

1. The Balkan Flexi Pass is printed on the official railway ticket paper and will be sent to you by mail. The pass must be validated within 6 months of issue.

2. Seat reservations are optional. However, to guarantee a seat on a particular train at a particular time, it is recommended that you reserve a seat in advance. Seat reservations are required on many high-speed, overnight, scenic, and international trains.

3. The 7:00 p.m. rule applies: According to this rule, when traveling by overnight trains, you only have to enter the following day in your Travel Diary if the journey starts after 7 p.m. and does not end before 4 a.m.

4. InterCity and InterCity Express price supplements are not included in the price.

5. As with the Interrail Pass, the Balkan Pass requires that the day of travel is entered in the passport and the individual train journeys are entered in the Travel Diary.
