Best Time To Travel To Myanmar

We recommend visiting anytime from November to February, with these being the driest months, but busier months (book accommodation in advance!). This is their winter season so in the evening it can be cold, yet warm during the day. October is a great month to avoid crowds although there are chances for some wet days at the backend of the monsoon season. And we recommend trying to avoid May, June, August as these are the most humid months and have a tremendous amount of rainfall. Travel is possible but canceled transportation and mudslides occur on a regular basis during this time.

When in Myanmar, try to line up with a local festival, which can be quite easy as there are plenty to choose from! Check out the Shwedagon Pagoda Festival, Burmese New Year (a big 5-day water fight), end of Vassa (city is filled with candles and cultural performances), and the Tazaungdaing Festival (a floating lantern festival).

  • High Season: November – March
  • Low Season: April – October
  • Rainy Season: April – October
  • Dry Season: November – March
