Best Time To Travel For Mali

We recommend traveling to Mali anytime from October to January. This is outside of the rainy season and the strong desert winds (harmattan) haven’t quite picked up yet. Mali is known for its music and don’t be afraid to dance along! Whilst in Mali, you can visit Bandiagara cliff dwellings, the Great Mud Mosque of Djenne, see the original Timbuktu Manuscripts, witness the Antogo Fishing Frenzy, see the secluded villages on cliffs in Dogon Country, or maybe attend the Festival of Niger. In general, the south part of the country is hot and humid and the northern part of the country is hotter due to the proximity to the desert.

  • Rainy Season: June to September
  • Harmattan Season: January to March
